Divorce fee

Hi!

Does anybody know how much the divorce fee is in Tunisia? My tunisian ex husband said it was 1600 dinars, which i sent him...I felt it was a bit to much ( a monthly pay there for a fee), but i just wanted to be finished with it all...

Is this cost of the fee correct?

Hi Sunflower welcome to the forum. I think it's about 1200 dinar but other members can correct me if I'm wrong @Mica can you help here plse? Can I ask you why do you have to pay for it? Did he ever lived in your country? Are you planning to go to Tunisia again or not? When not let him fix it all by himself as he will want to marry again?

Yes, an uncontested divorce with no children or property etc. would cost in the region of 1,200, depending on the lawyer it could be a little more or less. I Would say that 1,600 might be a bit over the mark and should easily cover the total cost from start to finish with a bit of change left over.

Thank you for clearing this up for me:)
Yes, we were married for 2 years and he stayed in my country for about one year. Since it was me who wanted the divorce he meant it was fear that I payed his ticket home and the divorce fees ( which I agreed on). I stopped trusting him and did not like the way he treated me, so I had to end it for my own wellbeing.

Tunisia has always been like my second country from I was little, so im sure I will to back there one day, but not for him.

Can you please be more specific, you mean your divorce in Tunisia, if yes, it can be probably about that if a Lawyer's help is present of course.

Here's the thing, there are different types of divorce in Tunisia, usually the rights go mainly back to the female especially with the presence of children.

As far as I know, some divorce procedures do not really require money, little money like a couple of hundred dinars or no fees as all
But lawyers, like anywhere in the world can be a bit pricey.

I have two links if they may help

Oh dear I have paid 2300tnd to my husband for our divorce. Tbh it does not surprise me
I probably shouldn't have said from the start I would only pay £600, bet his and the lawyer's eyes lit up.
He just asked me for another 150tnd for 'unexpected fees'. Not a chance.
Had the first hearing on Monday, next one (hopefully final) is set for November.

Don't give in to his demands he and his lawyer had enough money already to fix the divorce. Is he still demanding the gifts back he gave to your family or did he let it go? Hopefully November comes quick and your divorce is finalized with him.

Oh there's no way I'm sending any more! I'm just debating whether I tell him that or just leave him hanging. I want to pee him off by telling him no, but then I'm so close to getting the divorce done with is it worth it?
Haven't talked about the gifts recently. I think he'll get them back when I get paid back for everything else. Otherwise they'll end up on ebay to recoup some losses!

I wouldn't say anything about it let him wait just put him on ignore. When the divorce is finalized you are fee of him and you owe him nothing I am afraid he will never pay you back

How are you coping, are you okay?

Don't send him another penny - the divorce will be far more important to him!

I'm doing ok thanks, I just want it all to be over now.
It frustrates me that I have no control over what is happening, and I've not even had the process properly explained by him or the lawyer. I didn't know that the previous hearing was an attempt at reconciliation, and I don't know if the next hearing in November will finally see us declared divorced or not.
I've met someone else recently, and while he is ok with me being married/separated/almost divorced, he doesn't want to start a relationship with that hanging over us, which I can see where he's coming from and I kind of agree. It just makes me wish things would happen sooner so I can finally move on and try to be happy.
But we shall see! x
