Hello!
I found this site and it made me rethink my situation. Last November I met a Tunesian boy on Instagram he didn’t look typically Tunesian for me at all blue, eyes light hair and 30 years. I myself am 27 years from Europe. We started talking and hit it off very well, he speaks English and French. This summer we decided we wanted to meet and I didn’t want to come to Tunesia so I suggested him to come to Turkey. We met there and had a wonderful time for a few weeks, we had a lot of similar interests. By the way he never asked me for money and while we were together he paid and sometimes we split the costs of everything. He has quite a good job at a company there and he did study. He never asked me for money or anything he seemed very respectful and very chill and open minded. We kept in touch after that meeting and last month we met again in Turkey a few weeks, we had a great time together. Well we talked now about visiting him and he says he really wants to show me his country and his family. I already met his sister that lives here in Europe and she was very nice to me. So well I am just wondering if it would be wise to go there and if it could be that all this is for the visa?
Thank you in advance for giving me your opinions!

Welcome here and for me just the fact he is Tunisian is not good, although he seems different and was good to you and not ask for money it could be temporary as they put up an act. Did he pay your ticket to Turkey? I would be cautious because of the visa thing there are a lot of stories on here like yours ..to begin with but end up leaving you broke, whether it be financially or broken hearted or both. While he seems real they are good actors and very patient. We all met ours over the internet also ..they search for victims! That’s a huge red flag! And I’m pretty sure we have all met the family via in person or the phone video chat, they just love us:)

Also these guys should be good Muslim men I’m sure there will be questions asked about intimacy as it should not be allowed if he’s a good Muslim .. but I’m not Muslim I have learned a lot here ..mine not a good person lied scammed and yes we had sex when I went to see him so…

@Kellss i think you should proceed with relationship and see where it goes. Yes, as Muslims we shouldn’t be intimate before marriage, but it 2021 and it happens in the world, even in Tunisia with Tunisian couples. If his sister lives in Europe she could have helped him get there or he could have went illegally, but believe it or not all Tunisians do not want to just leave. Proceed with caution, watch for signs of visa scamming and don’t give money. Just be safe in Tunisia because it’s very different mindset from Turkey and his attitude may change on his own turf.

Hi Kellss from the information that you gave given it is difficult to tell whether he is genuine or just someone wanting to use you for a visa or eventually for money. I guess you just need to proceed with caution and be aware of how he behaves towards you. Don't rush into anything too quickly.

Hey sorry to be so blunt and negative but you have to realize that 98%of the women here were scammed out of money some allot.. some got married happy for years and boom so I’m just trying to be as honest as I can be.. you and his age and him having money are about the only positive things I see.. but that’s just me, just be careful you are here for a reason so…

Hi @Kellss welcome to the forum. As @Aisha1 said not all tunisian men you meet online/real life are rats. But always be aware of the signs of bezness and keep in mind that if he is a rat they can hide it very well as rats are good actors in pretending they love you. And as @Peacock pointed out there is little info of your post to determine he is a rat or not. Just be careful and open your eyes for any signs of bezness or red flags and your purse closed

Hi there! Heed Butterflies advice and you'll be fine either way I think so by all means go for it... Would he like to follow in his sister's footsteps on to Europe is what I'm wondering. Are you Muslim too?

Did you come agross TLR looking to learn about Tunisia or was there something else about his behaviour that made little sense to you?

Hi Kellss
It may be genuine or it may be a long term plan on his part.
The fact he has a good job is a positive as he's not a bum, the fact that he's 30 is a red flag as they are usually verbally engaged to a second or third cousin by this stage.

Why was he looking for a woman on Instagram, did you ask him as this is not how the marriage game is played in Tunisia?
ALSO THIS from dangerous beans ( I don't seem to be able to quote, need a lesson)

I agree @Tigerpants like I said the only positive thing is the age being close together and the fact he spent money on her! I’m wondering why @Aisha1 said it’s 2021 ? As far as intimacy goes because in so many cases here she says it’s-a no no before marriage that is a good Muslim man I didn’t understand that.. and the visa thing well he Needs to use his sister if he wants a visa. And every Tunisian I have spoke to over there wants out so alittle confusion there.. but hey for it:) we all did

Yes I said 2021, our religion states before marriage intimacy is a sin and I believe good men wait before marriage, I’m Muslim and believe this myself firmly, but like it or not times change and couples sleep together before marriage Muslim or not… doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a rat….or a bad person… all to their own. @Sabrina I live in Tunisia so yes it’s true some want to go, but not all. Maybe the ones you spoke with, but sorry that doesn’t automatically account for all. I’m really unsure of your hostility towards me because I didn’t tell this woman he is a rat right off the bat…. I mean proceed with caution, but you can’t judge everyone based on things other men have done…or what they can possibly do, all she can do is see how it goes. And he may well be using her, but all we can tell her is watch for red flags , advise her of red flags and be here to support her if something turns south.

No hostility at all I just have to question the flip flopping that’s all and I must add for all the ladies here besides money they want a visa out

I’m not flip flopping on anything, and I do think when they sleep together before marriage it’s disrespectful and not really having quality of true intentions ( in our culture), but people do it and he is not asking for money… so who knows.. I know couples that are intimate before marriage and it doesn’t mean they are bad or users, just my 2 sense. I just hate to always tell women looking for advice that he is rat, rat, rat. Ya know.

Well you See here on this site all we know are rats, whether they show themselves right off the bat or wait and show their true colors years later after completely ruining a woman’s life. People come here for opinions and that’s what they get, they sure do not look at this site to see the weather forecast in Tunisia

I completely understand, I’m just trying to give advice as a person not having dealt with a rat before. Be cautious, but who knows he may be just a guy wanting a relationship. I mean at least he went to Turkey twice to accommodate her, more than most have done… that being said I hope she didn’t pay the ticket then that’s another story.

The rats in tunisia are accumulating in numbers rapidly rising fast
I see only a small percent that are looking for love true
The rest money visa gifts visits romance scams and fakery and that truly is a mockery off love and they have no shame or respect for themselves !!!
